Kitchen facilities for self-catering

Most colleges provide good quality meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, though cost varies between colleges. If you ever want to cook for yourself, be warned that college kitchen provision can vary quite dramatically.

Balliol College crestBalliol3 out of 20 halls on site have kitchens. The facilities at Jowett Walk are much better in terms of kitchen provision.

Christ Church crestChrist ChurchWherever you live there is normally a teapoint not far away, which comprises of a kettle, toaster and a microwave. There are no ovens or hobs on the main college site. Those choosing to live in off-site college accommodation have kitchens.

Lincoln College crestLincolnOur JCR has a kitchen available to all undergrad students, as well as lots of board and card games, a TV and Wii. It’s a great place to unwind at the end of the day!

Merton College crestMertonThere are four communal kitchens available to all students on-site. Many students rely on hall, especially in first year, but an equal number self-cater. Students living on Holywell street (mostly 2nd years) have much better kitchen access with between 6 and 14 people sharing a kitchen.
New College crestNewAll students have access to basic kitchen facilities. These get significantly better in 3rd year in the new accommodation.
Oriel College crestOrielThere is some kitchen access on-site, but not much, although it is improving. The kitchens at JMH (where most 3rd and 4th years live) are really spacious and well equipped, and usually shared between 4-8 people.

The Queen's College crestQueen'sOnly one of the buildings has kitchens (St. Aldates) which mostly houses 4th years. There are a few microwaves in each of the other accommodation blocks.  
Regent's Park College crestRegent's ParkAll students have access to basic kitchen facilities. There is access to shared fridge/freezers, hobs with ovens and a microwave. (This is more than at many colleges, but bear in mind that there is no hall availability at weekends.)
Somerville College crestSomervilleAll years have some sort of kitchen access. However, about half of the first year kitchens are very basic with just microwaves, fridges and kettles. The others have ovens and hobs. Second and third year kitchens tend to be larger and slightly better equipped.

St Hugh's College crestSt Hugh'sAll years have access to a kitchen. They vary in size, quality, and the number of people they are shared between, but all have at least the basic equipment needed to cook for yourself. Kitchen facilities tend to improve as you progress though college, usually with less people sharing each kitchen as you go up each year. .

St Peter's College crestSt Peter'sFirst years generally only have fridge and microwave access, but there is a JCR kitchen which anyone can use.

St Edmund Hall crestTeddy HallSmall kitchens on every floor at every accommodation site. The kitchens at the annexes are generally better. Most people choose to eat in the hall, which serves pretty good food. These meals are paid for in advance so most people will attend to make the most of their money.
Trinity College crestTrinityIn first and second year, where you live in college, there is one main large kitchen with four hobs and ovens, as well as multiple microwaves and toasters scattered around college. In third and fourth year, you live in college-owned accommodation where there are kitchens in each flat.

Wadham College crestWadhamThere is a shared kitchen for JCR which all students have access to. It has an oven (the only one students have access to), two sets of hobs, a fridge, microwave and freezer. It is usually fairly well equipped with various pans and cooking utensils. There are also small kitchens on each of the Bowra building corridors, with a fridge, microwave and hobs. 
Worcester College crestWorcesterMost rooms have kitchen access, with usually 6 people sharing one kitchen. They all have ovens, hobs, microwave and plenty of fridge space (but you'll also have your own fridge in your room). Some kitchens are equipped with dishwashers. About half of first year rooms don't have kitchens (as they are in the main quad, the oldest rooms in college) but freshers can express a preference for proximity to a kitchen before arriving.
